Finding Balance in Uncertainty

Single bare tree on hill with colorful sunset and rolling hills in background

Is this the high or is it the low

Is this hello or is it goodbye

Inside my heart there’s an emptiness

I find myself wondering is this the high or is it the low

Feeling like I’m out on a limb in the wind of a hurricane

I wonder is this a new high or is it a new low

I can’t tell as the tree shakes

As my branch moves about, I’ve lost all sight of the ground in the wind of this hurricane

I don’t know what’s going on with me

I’m sure I’ve been this lost before, but I can’t really remember when

I honestly can’t tell which way is up and which is down now

I’m unsure which direction I was heading

Is this a new high or a new low, or something in between

Theres only three things I’m sure of at this moment

One I am a warrior poet

Two I will survive this just, like I have survived everything else life has thrown at me

And finally, three this too shall pass it may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass

I may not be real sure about anything else but I’m certain of those three things

And honestly that’s enough

That gives me a foundation to work back out from

I may have lost the mountain with which I used to reckon against

But I will soldier on as I always have

Because honestly its the only way I know how

To press ever onward and upward

I just might take a break for a little while I find out which way is up and which way is forward.
