You build a perfect ship in a bottle
Pick your brain apart and put it in with needles and pins
To set sail all on your lonesome
No crew no safety net
Anchor all thoughts to the bottom
No one on the deck to help you
Your eyes burning from the salt water
That threatens to drown you
From where you lashed yourself to the wheel
As you try to steer
Your ship in a bottle
Into a dark and roiling sea
Trying to protect your ship and you
Man was not meant to be an island
But you took it a step father
And built your ship in a bottle and sealed it up and threw
It into the sea
But now the corks starting to pop
And the glass is cracking
As you try to sail a ship surrounded by the walls you made
With ineffectual sails
And a rudder that doesn’t move
How can you succeed all alone
Let’s make a deal
Tell me your thoughts you dare not speak
And I’ll tell you mine
Together we can fix this ship
And crack the glass into a smaller sea
Where this ship has a chance to fly across the waves
Instead of sinking
In the vastness of the ocean
