Be Kind to Yourself

You’re full of emotion

That’s heaving like a raging ocean

I can hear it in your spirit

That if you had a choice you’d rather

Be anyone else

But I love the way I made your precious heart

Be kind to yourself

I know its hard to hear it

When that anger in your spirit

Is pointed at yourself

Like a gun

But know I made you special

Know I shaped your heart

When the voices in your mind are

Anything but kind

Be kind to yourself

And remember that I love you

You’ve got to learn to love your enemies too

Which sometimes includes yourself

Be kind to yourself

Take a break

Remember the good things about yourself

Start small and then get bigger

You’ve got to be kind to yourself even

When it’s hard

You can’t rely on others to be kind to you

So be kind to yourself

Remember I shaped your heart for a reason

I shaped you into someone for a purpose

Even when you can’t find it

Know that you have a purpose I made you for

Just cause I’m God doesn’t mean

I don’t understand self-care

I rested on the seventh day

So take care of yourself

You can’t be your best self

If you’re not kind to yourself

When you’re not kind to yourself

That’s what you show to the world as well

To be who I made you

Requires you to be kind to yourself and others

Kind but firm just because you’re kind

Doesn’t mean you don’t change

It doesn’t mean you don’t work on yourself

It doesn’t mean you don’t work on others

Just remember to be kind to yourself

Especially when you fail

Remember even the God of the universe

Was saddened by failure

Was firm but kind

Worked hard but rested

I know it’s hard to hear it with that anger in your spirit

Is pointed like a gun at your chest

When the voices in your mind are everything but kind

Remember your Father knows best and

Wants you to be kind to yourself
