Head on a swivel.

Protect and serve

It’s what we’re called to do

A noble cause

But dangerous

When those we seek to serve

Hunt us in the dead of night

And in bright sunlight

We did nothing to them

Other than protect and serve

So we tell each other

Keep your head on a swivel

Always be vigilant

We no longer have days off

Just days where we aren’t

At risk as much

They say it’s open season on us

They shout their hate

And their death threats from everywhere

But our pages are removed and blocked

We’re fired to placate

The one that want to kill us

Even though we just did our jobs

Eyes open

Never let your guard down

Never know when the end of your watch will come

See things that would destroy others

Always expected to be strong

To be superhuman

We are supposed to be able

To solve every crime

Every problem

Never get angry

Never cuss

To always be polite

Break up every fight

Never have to use our weapons

They want us to let them get

Away with everything they do

But the moment something happens

To them or their stuff everyone must be punished

Why didn’t you stop it?

They want us to perfectly hit moving targets

With a pistol not to kill

But to incapacitate

They want us to be superheroes

But they treat us like villains

Still we go forth every night and every day

24/7 365 holidays weekends

Birthdays anniversaries graduations

Weeks sometimes months without vacation

Always short never enough time In the day

8 hours sometimes 12 sometimes more.

But we’ve all felt the call

To a higher purpose

To Protect and Serve

““Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭ESV

We protect and serve all regardless of race wealth religion or any other factor.

God bless and protect us all.
