Dawn Of A New Day

Rainbow-colored kite flying in the air at sunset over a beach

When a new day dawns

Opportunities arise and

Opportunities fall

Hopes and dreams rise with the morning air

While some older ones dash themselves against the rocks

While the morning breeze lifts others to new heights

A new day dawns

Where will this one take us

Will we rise to meet it

Or will we wallow in our bed hoping to weather another day

Through ignorance

Afraid of the dawn, afraid of the burgeoning day before us

Waiting for the night when we can dream and sleep

And pretend we’re someone else

Pretend like we’re not the broken creature we’ve come to believe we are

We believe we’re fragile and broken

But we’re not, you’re not

You may have been broken in the past, but you’ve healed in a myriad of ways

Now youre building up the strength and courage to face that new day

To fly your hopes and dreams into the sky

Like a great big kite

To step up out of bed and face the dawn of a new day

With strength, courage, and resilience

Knowing life couldn’t stop you before so why should today be any different

Yes it shoved you back but it didn’t stop you

Momentum isn’t always forward

Sometimes you need to go 2 steps back to see a different way through

Life shoved you back so get up and push back in from another angle

Press on into the new day

With the herculean strength and fortitude i know you to possess
