Hate

The world is filled with Hate

But Hate isn’t s a natural state

Hate is something that takes effort

Just like Love

To Hate something requires thought and focus

So does loving something

You can dislike something intensely with little effort

You can be disgusted with no effort

But to truly Hate requires more

It always bewilders me how people seem to Hate

With little to no effort

How strong their Hate can be

Towards people they don’t know

Towards things they don’t understand

Racists, True Racists bewilder me more than anything

I’m not talking people that are called racists by many

But people like those I see at work

aryan brotherhood, aryan circle people like that

That actively Hate

For no reason

For no purpose

That truly think they are above others

Because their skin is a different color

It something I’ll never understand

Why and how they made that choice

Why and how they continue to make that choice

Because it’s not a onetime thing

 I work in a County Jail

And I see them and listen to them on a daily basis

I deal with people from all walks of life

In for all different kinds of crimes

My job at its simplest is safety and security

Both of staff and inmates

Staff first because if the staff isn’t safe how can I make sure the inmates are safe

I routinely have to deal with Murderers

Child Rapists

Pedophiles

Rapists and all other kinds of criminals

But even then I can’t bring myself to Hate them

I’m disgusted by their crimes

By their unrepentance

But I can’t Hate them

Even the worst I’ve seen

I can count on 1 hand those I’ve truly Hated

Bacau’s they were truly vile people

And would do everything they did again if they were free

I don’t understand Hate

I’m not sure I ever will

I dislike most people

But I don’t Hate them

I choose to Love instead

Even the worst inmates I deal with

I ask them how they are

How their day is

How they’re doing

Because everyone deserves to be treated with respect

Deserves to be treated like a human being

I do my best to walk in Love and not Hate

Hard though it is

I don’t want to waste my time and effort on Hate

 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”   John 3:16 NASB

I worship a Holy and Just God

That Loves a world that doesn’t Love him

That doesn’t chase after him

I strive to Love like that

And I fail

Time and time again

But I refuse to live in Hate

To borrow the words of a song I Love by Todd Snider Called “Ballad of the Devil’s Backbone Tavern

“Life’s too short to worry
Life’s too long to wait
Too short not to love everybody
Life’s too long to hate”
