Love is a wondrous thing but it’s not without its pain
It puts the wind in your sails propelling you forward
Yet the same Love can tear your sails to pieces leaving you becalmed and wounded
This thing called Love I can’t always handle it
It’s launched a million billion ships and destroyed just as many
Love is not a one-time act that forever imparts its magic
It’s an ongoing act that requires devotion and action
Lest it be lost forever beneath the waves
On this ocean we call life
It’s a crazy thing how the same thing can build us up and also destroy us
Propelling us to new heights and new lows
When the Love of another leaves
Or their presence fades from this world
The absence of Love is not hate, or hatred
As many would believe
But merely apathy
You don’t either Love or hate someone
You either Love them, hate them, or feel little to nothing towards them
There’s always a 3rd option when it comes to Loves absence
But it is possible to Love someone and be angry towards them for leaving
To Love someone so much that its infuriating and then when they’re gone you almost hate them for it
But you can’t because your heart is broken
That’s what heartache and grief are the loss of the person that was the object of that Love
Heartache and grief are so similar it’s ridiculous
But what would we be what would we do without Love
Without Love there would be so few works of art
So, few pieces of prose
So, few great monuments
Almost all are born out of Love
Even in their absence whether voluntarily through leaving me alone or through their death
I can’t bring myself to hate those that I have loved
They inspire me to new heights even if they did press me into the ground when they left
This crazy thing called love just wont let me
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal except time
As does any loss of a loved one in any form
But Love leaves memories no one can steal
It leaves indelible fingerprints on you
IT leaves you different than you were this crazy thing called Love.

I love how you frame love as an ocean force: both propulsion and wreckage, creation and grief. The meditation on absence becoming apathy is especially striking, and the closing image of love leaving “indelible fingerprints” lands with quiet power. Beautiful!
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement it means so much to me.
