Everyone projects their dream on you
Telling you what they want you to be
A thousand directions
You’re pulled in
They tell you just give a little, just give a little
Slowly but surely if you listen to a thousand contradictory plans
And the voices telling you to always give a little, give a little
Soon you’re disintegrating as you’ve got nothing left to give
Be kind, be patient, be hard to please
Which is it
That’s a contradiction one of many
Piece by piece you’re slipping away
Raise your hand if you’ve ever just wanted to run away from it all
Somewhere you can get away from all the expectations
And just be yourself
It’s so hard when all the contradictions come in hard and fast
Even when a thousand voices tell you different
And pull you in a thousand directions
The only option is to be yourself
And remember to keep enough of yourself to sustain yourself
Don’t spread yourself too thin
Lest you disintegrate
Into a thousand pieces
And forget who you are
