Riding A Wave

Three fishermen aboard a small sailboat navigating rough stormy seas

I’m riding a wave destination unknown

Chasing the Sun

Chasing meaning

Only thing I know is what I’m running from

Running from the dark

Chasing the sun and the unknown

Chasing brighter and better days

Running from the darkness and despair

From the grief that threatens to steal my breath

The sea is tumultuous

And treacherous

All while I’m here on a skiff

Waves crashing over the sides and over the bow

Bailing out the water while trying to outrun the storms that threaten to sink me

But I’ve spent time on beautiful shores

I’m stock full of provisions

There are no more holes in my Skiff

It’s just sometimes these everyday waves get to be too much

Riding across the waves all sails full with the wind

Trying to outrun everything

While the storm threatens to close in I am happy and calm

The picture of serenity

Because I know the storms wont last forever the sky will clear and I’ll find a shore bright and green
