Life Is A Gamble, And I’m A Gambling Man

If You like to Gamble, I’ll tell you Poetry and rock and roll’s your games

You win some, then you lose some

And even when you lose it’s not the end of the world

But when you win you win big

All the time gathering up favorites

There’s always something to gain and so little to lose

They say gambling is for fools

That’s why I take a gamble on new and old bands

Poets old and new

Some of the best poets I’ve ever heard of used a guitar and a mic

Even when I don’t find something I love I gain something from it

Inspiration, or a new favorite song or simply finding out I don’t like something

It’s all a win in my book I gamble on my poetry all the time

Whether something will strike a chord or fall flat

I’ve started submitting my poetry to be published a couple pieces at a time that’s definitely a gamble

But so is life the whole things a giant gamble a roll of the dice from conception on

Maybe you win the genetic lottery, or you lose it

You’ve no choice but to play the hand you’re dealt and gamble on

We’re all born to lose in the end

You can only cheat death so many times till he catches up after all

Gambling is for fools

I’m just going with the flow life’s all a game to me

I was born to be a hellraiser gambling away, but not playing for keeps

I’m living on an endless road

Trying to gamble me up a higher reach

Trying to win it big in this game of life

Lemmy says the only card he needs is the ace of spades

Which stands for power, transformation, and mortality

Tell me that Lemmy isn’t a poet in disguise saying all he needs is power and transformation

That he doesn’t want to live forever but he’s your gambling man

Don’t forget the joker he says

Unpredictability, versatility, and chaos

Because life is always a gamble and it ends with mortality

Our own and those we love

Every day is a gamble where when we open our eyes, we’ve already won the most important gamble of the day.

Coming up soon I’m going to collaborate with a friend of the site to do a Giveaway contest of a signed book. The contest will be held over at Fox Reviews Rock. His portion of the contest will be going live on 02/28/2026. All you’ll need to do to enter is leave a comment saying which book you would like a signed copy of. I’ll be giving away a signed copy of each one of my books. Fox’s website can be found here.
