We were born to a generation born to wander and wonder
We mean to pay off our student loans but we spent all our money on Gas and Rent
We wanted to travel but we live paycheck to paycheck still hoping
To achieve our dreams but stuck in the more of despair that plagues our generation
We want to spend time dwelling on life’s mysteries and raging against the machine
That drowns us in debt and prohibits us from wandering
But we’re stuck as cogs in a system that doesn’t care about us
Wondering where it all went wrong
What did the past do to screw us
What wrong turn did we take to end up here
Hoping against hope that one day we’ll be able to wonder and wander to our hearts content
All of the college and high school kids are medicated
And so are we
Just so we can make it through the day
Antidepressants, uppers, downers, Adderall, we’re prescribed it all
I don’t think I’ll ever cure my lust to just disappear
And run away from all the crap I deal with
Cause I’m born to a generation prone to wander
But we blew out life savings fixing up the car that’s 10 years old and all we can afford
While trying to stay up to date on rent
And pay off our student loan debt
So don’t ask me about tomorrow
Cause I haven’t learned from yesterday quite yet
S I’ll buy a house built in the 60’s and use all the strings attached
To sew up my chewed up heart
While wondering why we keep putting the same people in charge
Not that I could do better just hoping to get the chance to wander again.
