Slipfast Definition adj. longing to disappear completely; to melt into a crowd and become invisible, so you can take in the world without having to take part in it—free to wander through conversations without ever leaving footprints, free to dive deep into things without worrying about making a splash. From slip, to move or fly away in secret + fast, fortified against attack. From The Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows.
Have you ever wanted to disappear without a trace but still exist
To live on the outskirts of conversations but leave no trace behind
Then you’ve experienced the sorrow of Slipfast
Do you enjoy watching crowds of people and listening in on their conversations
Without taking part
Than you’ve experienced the joys of Slipfast
Its the dream and joy of being a proverbial fly on the wall of other people’s lives without
Having to interact with them
Maybe you’ve never experienced it
But its something that i quite enjoy
Doing in public
Being the proverbial gray man
Able to slip past others without really being noticed
Able to listen in and observe while sliding past others observations
Its a voyeuristic kind of pleasure
Gained without any harm you’re not watching anyone
In their truly private moments or at least not trying too
You’re not following them to their home and peeking in
Everything you’re observing is offered free and publicly
Because they have a false sense of security that they’re not interesting and therefore no one is watching
But if you look hard enough
Everywhere you go you’ll find someone participating in Slipfast
Standing or sitting silently observing out of the corner of their eyes
Listening intently without looking like it they observe all around them without leaving a trace of themselves behind
