Not Hope But a Promise

man touching book

You’ve been let down

And burned so many times by hope

So instead of hope, I offer a PROMISE

Things do get better I promise

The days get longer and brighter I promise

This darkness that you feel

Will lessen and you will fight your way out of the trenches I promise

Now this i wont promise that it never come back

But I will promise that it gets easier and it doesn’t stay as long

Even in your darkest days remember me and my promises

That things do get better

The darkness becomes lesser

I promise you that even if I don’t know you i love you and i wish only the best for you

Because I’ve been there

I’ve got the scars to prove it

I’ve got the Kidney stones

To prove the overdose

I know just how hard it is

But I promise you, that you are a warrior

I promise you that you can make it out alive

I promise you that you are more than this

That there are better things and better days ahead

Use whatever tools you need to, to make it out

If that’s Medication then join me in it

If it’s therapy then dive in with your whole heart

If it’s Spite that keeps you alive then baby be filled with it

Just promise me that once you’re out of the trenches you find another reason to live besides just Spite

I don’t know the majority of you who will one day read these words

That i hope to spread far and wide

But know though we’ve never met I love you like a brother, sister, parent, or child

I want you to not just live

Not just survive

But thrive

Like I know you can do I PROMISE
