Something a little different a friend of mine gave me the suggestion of shopping at Costco so I came up with this. I blame this on you Fred Duchow.
You go shopping in a big box store
Full of people
Convinced of your own free will
Yet at every turn all things have been pre-arranged
To make you buy more and more
Sales and special items placed on endcaps or in the middle of the aisle
Deceptive sales tactics
All designed to make you buy, buy, buy
Things you don’t need
Things you wouldn’t normally buy
But oh, you’re hungry
Or it’s on sale
But that sample tasted so good
And look it’s on sale
Everywhere you look they’re trying to control you
Trying and succeeding
Targeted ads and tracking
Listening to every word we speak
Tracking our every move
Everything we say or post
It all factors into their databanks
Designed to control
Designed to sell us as a product
To other advertisers
So we buy, buy, buy
Their products
Like addicts
Moths to the flame
Injecting the drug
Consume, consume
More, more
Gluttons never full
Our ever expanding
Stomachs never satiated
Til we, sink under
The weight of our
Unsatisfied eyes
All while filling the wallets of the Ad Execs
