Darkness and hate pervade this world

So many try to use hate and darkness

To drive out hate and darkness

But it never works

Hate against hat only breeds more

Darkness cannot banish darkness

Only light can

So why do we persist

In trying to do the impossible

Why do we insist that we can do

That which can’t be done

Is it part of the human spirit to try the impossible

I think it is

But I think it’s also easier

To respond with hate and darkness

Than it is with love and light

Love requires action and perseverance

It’s not easy

But hate comes naturally

It’s so easy to respond with hate

When that’s what you’re given

It’s so easy to respond with indifference to darkness

But responding with intention and attention takes so much more

Because it requires change both in yourself and in others

Love is hard but hate is easy

Who will you love today that requires something of you

What difference will you try to affect upon this world

Do you walk in light and love

Or darkness, hate, and indifference

How will you march forward today

Toward a brighter tomorrow

Towards a brighter future
