The Golden Rule

Matthew 7:12 12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. NASB (1995)

You’ve heard variations of this verse your whole life

You were taught it as a child

It’s so enshrined we literally call it The Golden Rule

Treat people the way you want to be treated

Literally only 9 words that could make life so much better

But instead we deal in

Hate

Disgust

Fear

Deception

Mistrust

When we all want to be

Loved and trusted

We all want honesty and hate deception

Why then do we do it

Why do we mistreat people

If we all just followed this one rule

We could make the world a better place

But i guess it’s easier to deal in negatives

Its easier to mistrust to fear and to hate

I’m guilty of it too

As the Apostle Paul said “I am chief among sinners”

But i am saved by grace

And am transformed through Christ

I am not above reproach

i am just as at fault as anyone else

But it is a daily struggle a daily battle with yourself to be better

To be who God knows you can be

Wo be who he wants you to be

So Take up your cross daily with me

Pledge to be better

And let Jesus Christ renew you and transform you

Let your life be like a sunflower and point towards the Son

So one day we may all treat others as we wish to be treated
